My work is an ongoing exploration of the interior and exterior of the human body from a non-scientific point of view. I observe it’s physical form as a natural system, landscape or small universe, while searching out the sublime, magical and possibility of wonder.
Inspired by the physical commonalities between Nature and the human body, I create hybrid anatomical and botanical forms that point at the inter-connectedness, power and fragility of both nature and body. I am captivated by their functions and systems, often occurring without our control at micro levels.
Some of my works are contained - just as the body is by its skin - portraying interior worlds or ecosystems with a life of their own; while others stand alone or as suspended fragments of a vast, infinite landscape.
